Health & Safety

1) Please do not touch ANY piercings or healing tattoos in our shop. This is for everyone's safety. We are a business dealing with contaminants (bodily fluids), and although you are sterile to yourself, if you touch a piercing and then touch the counter or doorknob, you are contaminating it for other people. This applies to EVERYONE.

2) No small children are allowed in the work rooms; this is for their own safety. Once again, we deal with contamination and some areas are not safe for children.

Jewelry Policy

1) We cannot exchange jewelry once it has left the shop, so please choose carefully!

2) If you do not know the size of the jewelry you need, please refer to #1. We can do a measurement and keep your record on file for a $5.00 fee, but we cannot make a guess.

3) Please check the balls on your jewelry on a regular basis. They are screwed on, so they can come loose. We can't replace jewelry for free (including lost balls) unless there is a manufacturing defect.

4) Organic jewelry is FRAGILE! We cannot do returns on organics, so please be careful!

5) We guarantee the integrity of our implant grade jewelry. In the event that the threads strip or the gems dislodge from their setting in your implant grade jewelry, we will refund you the price of said jewelry via the manufactor. However, please note there are NO guarantees on novelty jewelry.

Piercing & Tattoo Policy

1) For ANY piercing or tatoo, you must have with you a VALID state or federal issued I.D. Any of the following would be suitable identification.

• Driver's License
• California State ID card
• Military ID
• Passport
• Tribal ID
• Original or certified copy of your birth certificate accompanied by a picture ID

2) If you are under 18 and would like to be pierced, please refer to our minor policy below for details.

3) You must be 18 years of age or older in the state of California to get a tattoo, even with parental consent.

4) We do not do any racist, hate or gang tattoos, so DON'T ASK!

Minor Policy

1) California Penal Code §653 establishes that you MUST be 18 years of age or older to receive a tattoo.

2) Primal Decor does perform piercings on minors. However, we do have age limits on certain piercings due to our insurance policy and good judgment formed from our years of experience with piercing anatomy. Primal does not pierce anyone under the age of 11. We do not pierce genitals, nipples, or do any advanced body modifications on minors. No exceptions will be made to this policy.

3) A legal guardian must be present for submitting paperwork, filling out the piercing form, and presenting ID. Guardians must be present for the duration of the piercing. Guardians must present a valid, state or federal issued photo ID prior to the piercing. No exceptions will be made to this policy.

4) In the event that the minor's guardian is not one of the birth parents listed on their birth certificate, we require that the original or certified copies of guardianship documents be presented prior to the piercing.

5) Minors will need to bring in the following items for their piercing:

• A certified copy of their birth certificate OR their original birth certificate.
• A school ID with identifiable name and photo OR a yearbook with identifiable name and photo OR a current state issued ID OR a federal issued ID such as a tribal ID or passport

Our age requirements for piercings are listed below.

• 11-13: Earlobes only
• 14 and up: Earlobes, nostril, eyebrow, basic cartilage.
• 15 and up: Earlobes, nostril, eyebrow, basic cartilage, navel.
• 16 and up: Earlobes, nostril, eyebrow, basic cartilage, navel, oral, and advanced cartilage.

 

Shop Policy

1) We do not accept checks, but we do take Visa and Mastercard with ID.

2) Gift certificates can be redeemed for products and labor only, unless change is less than $5.00.

Piercing Prices:
WOW is this a hard question. REALLY! Everyone has different taste and the price of your new piercing depends on the jewelry you pick out.

I can say on average, including jewelry and labor, a new piercing is anywhere between $50.00 and $80.00.

Primal uses only implant grade jewelry. I am sure you are asking, "Mmm...what's the big deal about implant grade? I called somewhere else and its way cheaper!"

Well it does cost more to use the good stuff. But we are okay with that and we think once you see the goods you will be okay with that too. :)

Implant grade companies only manufacture their jewelry from metals that have been tested to meet high standards set forth by an organization called ASTM (the American Society for Testing and Materials). ASTM International is one of the largest voluntary standards development organizations in the world - a trusted source for technical standards for materials, products, systems, and services.

Ummm...again I am sure you are bored. What does this mean to you?

Primal can guarantee that you can wear their beginning jewelry in an MRI. It's nickel-free. Why? Because it's manufactured with the good stuff! Primal can also guarantee that the gems won't fall out of your nose rings or belly rings because our companies bezel them in.

Oh no! There I go using boring words again!

To bezel or not to bezel?

Well, cheaper companies just glue their stuff in. Bezel means they use the metal to cage in the gem, in so many words; it will never fall out of the setting!

Primal will also guarantee that all their beginning jewelry is internally threaded and polished, unlike cheaper options. Costume jewelry has threads on the post, not the ball, which can be like a cheese grater on the inside of your healing piercing. Not good! Also, many cheaper companies do not high polish their jewelry, leaving burs and scratches behind that can cause complications to your healing piercing.

Now don't get me wrong, a person has to have options and can't always afford high quality if they want something to match a particular outfit. We carry the costume style jewelry for healed piercings. But hey, for a healing piercing its totally worth every penny! Some things are just worth it! And really, if you think about it...a piercing is cheaper than most jeans nowadays.

Tattoo Prices:

Well again..it's hard. You all want different designs, size, colors, etc.

To get an accurate quote, just come in and talk to an artist.

I can say that our shop minimum is $40 and
our hourly rate is between $80 and $100.
